Video composition and shots.

First of all, the vertical and horizontal framing and sizing is very different which will take time to adapt to as well as focusing on the eyes of the subject at all times. Eye focus connects the viewer and the character through these two little vessels. Even though the rule of thirds was very important in photography, it is used to create drama and interest in videography. In many good movies, the subject is in the exact middle of the screen because it creates a powerful effect that focuses on the subject. Leading lines, in movies, can be used to draw focus to one side of the frame and lead the viewer’s attention to one certain area that creates suspense and a feeling of the overall area given in a space. One last thing that will be different will be the “Depth of field (DOF) or the area of a shot that’s in focus.” when it has little things in focus, it is called shallow and the opposite when almost everything is in focus.

I think an anti bullying/ anti drug usage would be beneficial for JBHS because i have seen some of that occurring here.

Portraits and self portraits

portrait and self portrait intro

There are a lot of ‘rules’ out there when it comes to composition and I’ve always had a love hate relationship with them. My theory is that while they are useful to know and employ that they are also useful to know so you can purposely break them – as this can lead to eye catching results.

Use your imagination! A self-portrait can reveal a lot about you, by including props and even other people that are meaningful in your life.

While getting your images straight can be important in when shooting in these formats holding your camera on a more diagonal angle can also inject a little fun into your images.

Environmental- I liked these pictures because they had a lot of color and scenery.

Photography self portrait. I like these because they show emotion and tell a story

Iiike the casual portraits the most because they look really cheesy and look kind of funny when everyone is using props and cheesily looking at the camera..

American Soldier.

A. The most powerful picture that is on the news story is the picture of Ian getting baptized. This is a huge commitment to god, and his mother and probably means a lot to his family.
B. The images work together to tell a story by capturing the emotion that Ian is experiencing along his journey and really shows the feelings of everyone in the pictures.
C. The captions tell us the meaning behind all of his actions, they tell us why he is doing what he is doing, and why he is doing, just to clarify and help aid the reader.
D.  Ian Fisher was a seventeen year old boy that promised to join the army, he later did and that meant there would be consequences. His family and God were on his side as he was motivated by God.
E. When Ian is the main focus of the picture, the verb tense of the words are in present tense.
F. 1. On average, there are about 3 sentences per caption.
    2. The first couple of sentences in the captions tell us the location and the time of the event.
    3. The information in the second sentence tells us why the event is happening/who was there.
    4. The third sentence usually tells us more information about the event and what is happening.
    5. Almost all of the captions include a quote, if not more than one.
    6. Some sentences have four sentences, one of them even had five.
G. A picture is worth a thousand words. so when you actually add more words, the pictures tell a really emotional, detailed story of events.
H. Many people still write stories because it can give more detail or elaborate the information being shown. Captions do tell a small story but other writing completes the idea.

5 websites.

http://petapixel.com/2014/12/31/10-photography-resolutions-new-year/
was the first website i looked at. This website had very high quality action shots that still focused on the subject. My favorite picture was the first picture that showed up, the one with the sparklers and the girl in the dress. the sparkles were blurred and the girl was focused on while she was dancing with the fire. Her face tells a story of fun and having a good year to come, as it is on new years day.

Was the second website I looked. I like the balance and leading lines. the spiral staircases were very pleasing and fun to look at. My favorite picture was either the last one or the second to last picture, the design and pattern really stood out to me. I would like to try the Canon 5D mark II, 16-35mm f/2.8 lens and see what else the camera is good at. I wonder if the photographer used automatic or manual to shoot in, my guess would be that he used manual because some things were focused on more than the others.

Was the third website I looked at. I learned many things from the website, the most helpful being the subject looking off camera. This one made me realize that the subject should sometimes be looking off camera to provide an emotion as if there is something interesting happening. I would like to experiment on this and try to get good pictures that provoke the viewer and add another meaning. Ir is more interesting than just using a picture of the subject looking directly at the camera smiling.

Next I used this site to get more tips. The author said that I should try to link the strengthening of technique to the creation of style. She says that the most important things to look for are line, shape, form, texture, color, and pattern in pictures. Style doesn't develop on its own, that we can take boring pictures until we actively pursue its development. Lastly, she says to experiment with unusual lighting, backgrounds, and poses to try and be unique with the style we are trying to create.

Was the final one that i reviewed. Over the photos that I looked at, I really liked the one of the Antarctic Moss or #0212. This photo had very vibrant shades of blue and even though it was very monochromatic, it still had a great range of lights and darks. The lines of the rocks and the water hitting the rocks showed movement which helped you picture being in Antarctica. This photo really made me want to go to antarctica even though it would probably be freezing, they have really scenic and have great oppurtunities for breathtaking pictures.
