Intro to newspaper

My favorite newspaper on that website was the A Tarde newspaper from Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. I really liked this design and the newspaper was very visual, which i liked. My favorite headline was the one that translated to ¨savior is having fun for all ages.¨ this article really appealed to me because the picture beside it was very colorful and looked like a lot of fun. On A Tarde, the cover page had 6 news stories, i think (it is all written in Spanish/ Portugese). In all of the newspapers, the title is always large and at the top in fancy writing. They all have many columns that have interesting stories about what is going on right now, as well. The difference is all of the newspapers is the layout. The way that they organize the text and the information is very diverse and is never seen twice in different newspapers.

Best pictures.

this picture is of the band imagine dragons. They were really popular a couple of years ago and came back this year with some great hits including Believer and Thunder. Their music has always been clean, crisp and very thought provoking. Through the years, they have remained with their theme of joy and love and have always been true to themselves.

Hands down, wonder woman was the best movie released in 2017. This movie had an amazing plot and used great camera work to portray the emotions and scenery of the story. At first, i didn't want to go see it because i normally don't watch superhero movies but after a lot persuading, my neighbors finally convinced me to see the great movie and i loved it.

I think hurricane harvey really affected people all over which is why i think it was the most important event of 2017. It was a massive hurricane that ruined millions of peoples lives all over the caribbean. It was a tragic event that really meant something to me because i have family in galveston and all over the coast of texas.

One major person of 2017 was of course the new US president, Donald Trump. He has really impacted this year with all of his controversial tweets and promises including DACA, migration laws, and famously, building the wall. He has caused many of people to be scared and many to be upset with previous decisions of the year.

One major sporting event that occured in 2017 was the national anthem protesting. The whole argument started when the 49’ers quarterback decided to kneel during the anthem to support social injustice. He was standing up for police brutality against people of color. This matter was not taken lightly and was very controversial. I personally think it was very powerful and long overdue. I think that they are expressing their feelings and they are standing up for what they believe in.

MY 2017/8

I spent the christmas break in Costa Rica! We stayed in the mountains for 4 days and did things like zip lining, hiking, and riding horses. Then we went to the beach of tamarindo. There we relaxed and took in the country’s culture. I really wanted to take my best friend with me but it was really nice spending time with my family.

In my 2018, the resolutions I have are to lose weight, be the starter on the high school soccer team and get my driver’s permit. To accomplish the losing weight goal, I will work out everyday and eat healthier. To be a starter on the bowie high school soccer team, I will practice and train to be the best goalie i can be. Lastly, the driver’s permit stuff, I plan on taking driver’s ed and getting lessons from my dad, by driving at burger.

In 2018, I am really excited to have my friends in 8th grade right now, become freshman. I am also really excited to be on the soccer team for bowie and i look forward to meeting and becoming closer with my teammates. One more thing I am overjoyed about is I TURN 16!! I will officially be really old and i could drive a car by the end of the year. Lastly, I am excited to be going to so many summer camps. I am going to so many different camps and i will be making so many new friends that will make my 2018 a blast.

Self portrait v selfie.

PART ONE
A selfie is a picture taken with a person's hands, of themselves. Many times, selfies are used to celebrate and show of things in a quick moment, without taking time to set up a camera to take a photograph. A self portrait is a picture taken of one, by themself but with a timer so they can position/pose. They typically show what the photographer is interested in/ how they are feeling towards a certain subject. In a selfie, they are normally taken quickly to celebrate something/show something they are doing. A self portrait normally shows deeper emotion and displays a thought provoking element to the picture. A selfie can be very valuable when it is taken with people you care about and can be looked back on later in life and provide emotional feelings. Self portrait may just remind you of how you were a couple years back.  

PART TWO

I chose the website Bagnews, which is more focused on the politics of photography This website lets you find out about current events through photography. Their intention is to show the news through the camera and take pictures to show details of popular events. The average viewer could definitely learn interesting perspectives and view news stories through amazing photos. I would recommend this website because it has great photos, they have interesting news stories, and it is very easy to navigate. I would definitely give this website a ⅘ rating because it is very easy to navigate and they have great photos. The only downside of the website is that they don't really post that many articles and there isn't a huge variety of articles.

Bagnews posted a great article a couple years ago where they talked about a plane crash and the rescue that occured . They really seemed to help the readers understand and create images inside our head. They used very descriptive words and they really helped the visualization in my head come together with the real story. They did a really good job of describing the events in order and it really helped me understand when and where everything in the story was occuring. I wish there was more writing and more interesting details on the article though.

Tales by light

The photographer is  Richard l'Anson and he is a travel photographer. In the episode he photographed a religious festival in india and the pictures were very colorful. He also photographed the tigers at India’s Bandhavgarh National Park and they were very detailed and gorgeous.

The most interesting thing I saw in the episode was definitely the religious festival. The pictures were very vibrant and colorful which really made me want to be there with them and celebrate. The emotions on the people’s faces were powerful and ranged from overjoyed to serious when they were praying.

In this episode, I learned about one of the most famous photographers in the world and how he takes pictures. I learned that emotion, color, and the subject can make your picture so powerful.  He took a religious festival and showed the world what it was like to be there.

The photos that he took were taken in India. He traveled all over, to the national parks and churches to get great pictures. I liked the location because it was interesting to see what it is like in India. Because we live so far away, it was really cool to see pictures from there.

His work is important and very beneficial to the world. It is an insight to things occuring on the other side of the world. He has showed us what it is like In india and maybe inspired some people to take more pictures like his because they are beautiful.

A phobia is anything that scares someone or causes fear when they think about it.

Ideas- I can take pictures of my friends because I would be a mess and be scared without them by my side. I could take a picture of avocado/ guacamole because i am terrified of guacamole. It totally freaks me out. I can also take a picture of some place up high because I am not scared of heights, I am scared of falling.

The photographic techniques I can use would be lighting because that can affect the mood greatly and cause fear. The second one I can use is background to focus on certain elements and add depth to the photos. Body language and expressions will also be important when focusing in on the subject.

Deadlines, ARGGH!!

Deadlines, ARGH!!

1. The origin of the word deadline is not certain but many people think it relates to the term used in World War II as a term related to prisons. The deadline meant that no prisoner could cross it.
2. Missing a deadline can make you fail a class or get a very bad grade in the class. Your work may not be accepted or graded and you really don’t want your grade to die.
3. In all of my classes, I do have problems meeting deadlines and i am not sure how to fix it. I have gotten bad grades in my classes and I have had the lecture with my parents, which is definitely not fun.
4. I do miss deadlines on homework sometimes but never anything worth a project grade. I think I cause my own deadlines, I always forget and I am never organized. I also believe that the extra curricular activities i am involved in cause me to miss the due date.

1. I think the suggestion that would help me the most would be to get a good night’s sleep because I find myself getting tired all the time and so i fall asleep and do not get any work done, no matter how important it is.
2. The toughest way that they told me I should do was to say no to friends. I get very jealous when people hang out without me because I feel like i won’t be there if something happens or as if i am missing all the action.
3. I am a morning person for sure. I always wake up with energy and by night time, I always am tired and i can never stay up late.
4. In the morning, I always want to sleep in longer and sometimes i forget to get up and i end up falling asleep again. This forces me to try and get work done in classes or during lunch.
5. My study time varies everyday because of my activities that i do weekly so I think a dedicated study time would be either fit or right when I get home from school.
6. To eliminate distractions, I think I could make my mom take my phone away from me, sit at a desk instead of my bed, and tell my family to not talk to me for a couple hours so I wouldn't have any disruptions.

1. I think if i can manage my time better and analyze when to do homework, I could definitely take control and get my work done and turned in on time.
2. My ideal studying setting would be at a desk in a comfortable chair and lights dimmed. There would be relaxing music playing and it would be chilly.
3. MY biggest distraction is 110% my phone, I never focus when I have it within my reach. I always go to social media and check everything that's going on.
4. I can make my  mom take away my phone, I can turn off my phone and put it on the other side of the room, and I can put it on Airplane mode.
